Russian Missiles Hit Kyiv, Ukraine Drone Strikes Hit Over 12 Russian Vessels

Russian forces launched missiles and drones at Kyiv early on Saturday, July 11, wounding at least 11 people including one child, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said. Explosions and fires occurred in the Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. A three-storey office and warehouse building caught fire in Solomianskyi district, while another warehouse burned in Dniprovskyi district.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched 12 missiles of various types, including six ballistic missiles, and 121 drones. Ukrainian air defences shot down or electronically suppressed two missiles and 111 drones, according to the service.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported direct hits at 11 locations from ballistic missiles, two guided air-to-surface missiles and seven attack drones, with falling debris at three additional sites.

Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces targeted drone production facilities in Kyiv and the ports of Izmail and Chornomorsk. The ministry added that Russian air defences destroyed 178 Ukrainian drones overnight over eight Russian regions, the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula and the Black and Azov seas.

Ukrainian forces struck Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov overnight on July 10-11, Ukraine's General Staff said.

Ukraine claimed the strike damaged 21 tankers used to transport oil and petroleum products, along with four tugboats, two cargo ships and one dredging vessel. A live tracker maintained by SBS recorded over 12 vessels hit in the wave, including an earlier report of 15 vessels struck with seven oil tankers.

Ukrainian forces have now struck more than 100 Russian vessels this month, the tracker stated.

Russian officials said one person was killed in the Sea of Azov drone strike and that only four ships came under attack. Local Governor Yuri Slyusar stated the person killed was a sailor on a technical support vessel and that the four vessels, including a tanker carrying methanol, suffered only minor damage.
