Ryan Garcia to defend WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn on September 12 in Las Vegas
The bout was announced Wednesday by Dana White of Zuffa Boxing. Garcia will defend the welterweight belt he won in February.

Conor Benn will face Ryan Garcia for the WBC welterweight title on September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Zuffa Boxing chief Dana White announced the matchup on Wednesday. White also serves as president and CEO of the UFC.
Garcia, 27, won the WBC title in February by defeating Mario Barrios via decision. He enters the fight with a record of 25-2 and 20 knockouts. Garcia previously lost by points to Rolly Romero. Benn, 29, holds a record of 25-1 with 14 knockouts.
He split from longtime promoter Eddie Hearn to join Zuffa Boxing in February, signing days after White verbally attacked Hearn, who is 47. White is 56. Benn lost a decision to Chris Eubank Jr in April before winning their November rematch by points.
His most recent bout was a points victory over Regis Prograis in April at a 150-pound catchweight. Benn failed two drug tests in 2022.
