ForbesSamsung Display will exclusively produce the OLED panels for Apple's first foldable iPhone under a three-year agreement, Forbes reported. The initial order totals approximately 3 million units. Samsung Display is incorporating its CoE technology and M16 OLED material into the screens.
The same supplier has begun producing OLED displays for the iPhone 18 series alongside LG. Apple's device uses a 3D-printed hinge that generates unwanted noise after assembly. An industry official told The Elec that Apple is having difficulty stabilizing hinge module production and that the launch schedule depends on component readiness.
The hinge problem is expected to push the production schedule back by 15 days to one month. The official added that there are no issues with Samsung Display. Apple plans to produce 3 million iPhone Fold units before the end of 2026.
Samsung targets 5-6 million units across its Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup, including up to 2 million for the Wide model.
