Samsung Electronics America will move its headquarters from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, to Texas, affecting 739 roles in New Jersey and about 100 positions in Plano. The company said on Sunday that the relocation aims to improve collaboration by bringing teams together in a growing technology and AI ecosystem. A majority of affected workers received relocation offers, while others were let go.
The cuts involve Samsung's consumer electronics operations, which include display, phone, and appliance units. The chip division is not included in the changes. LinkedIn records show more than 30 workers in sales, marketing, and other roles in Texas and New Jersey have left the company in recent weeks. Samsung Electronics America employs about 1,200 people in New Jersey.
The headquarters shift follows the opening of new offices in New Jersey less than a year ago. Samsung Electronics America is one of several technology companies moving operations to Texas. The company stated there is no broad global restructuring underway in its consumer products business. Samsung Electronics had 11,770 U.S. employees at the end of 2025.
