Samsung Electronics Forecasts 19-Fold Rise in Q2 Operating Profit
Samsung Electronics projected 89 trillion won in operating profit and 171 trillion won in sales for the April-June quarter. The guidance reflects strong demand for AI memory chips. Full results are due later in July.

Samsung Electronics forecast an operating profit of 89 trillion won for the second quarter of 2026, a 19-fold increase from the same period a year earlier. The company also projected sales of 171 trillion won, more than double the prior year's level. BBC News reported the preview on 7 July 2026.
The guidance marks Samsung's third consecutive record quarterly operating profit. Demand for artificial intelligence memory chips has outstripped supply and lifted prices, according to the report. Samsung manufactures semiconductors for Nvidia and Google and ranks among the world's largest chip and smartphone producers.
Shares in Samsung have more than doubled since 1 January 2026. Rival SK Hynix has risen more than 200 percent over the same period, while South Korea's Kospi index has climbed more than 80 percent. Industry analyst Marc Einstein of Counterpoint Research said the projected earnings rank among the best quarterly performances ever and sit close to the tech-sector record set by Nvidia earlier in 2026.
He attributed the results to the AI boom and limited supply. Samsung will release full second-quarter results later in July.
