So far this year Samsung Heavy has secured deals totaling $3.9 billion for 19 ships, including nine LNG carriers, two container vessels and four crude oil carriers.
The company did not disclose the identity of the client or other commercial terms of the agreement. liquefied natural gas carriers are specialized vessels designed to transport LNG at temperatures of minus 163 degrees Celsius. The shipyard has been a leading builder of LNG carriers for global energy companies seeking to expand seaborne trade of the fuel.
