CBS SportsSamuel Basallo returned to catching for the Baltimore Orioles on June 7 after missing one game with abdominal discomfort. He has appeared at first base, designated hitter and catcher in recent games.
Crawford for the second straight game on June 7 because of a hand injury he suffered Friday when hit by a pitch. Colt Emerson started at shortstop and Patrick Wisdom played third base. The Los Angeles Angels plan to promote 22-year-old infielder Denzer Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake.
571. Guzman appeared in 13 major-league games last season and struck out 22 times in 43 plate appearances. The Tampa Bay Rays will use left-hander Ian Seymour as the opener against the Boston Red Sox on June 8 and follow with right-hander Mason Englert in bulk relief.
Boston interim manager must decide whether to start left-handed Masataka Yoshida or right-handed Andruw Monasterio against the left-handed opener. An eight-game major-league schedule is set for June 8, with all contests played at night. m.
