San Antonio Spurs rookie Jayden Quaintance underwent surgery on Wednesday to clean up his right meniscus, the team announced. The procedure comes as he continues recovery from an ACL tear suffered in 2025 that limited him to four appearances during his season with the Kentucky Wildcats. The Spurs selected Quaintance with the No.
20 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He is now expected to miss the start of his debut season, with a target return sometime in 2027, Newsweek reported. Quaintance suffered the initial ACL tear in February 2025 near the end of his freshman season at Arizona State.
After transferring to Kentucky, he made his Wildcats debut midway through the 2025-26 season and recorded 10 points and eight rebounds in a win over St. John's. He appeared in three more games before swelling in his right knee ended his season.
The Spurs reached the NBA Finals in the most recent season before losing to the New York Knicks.
