Sanders Seeks Vote to Block U.S. Bomb, Bulldozer Sales to Israel

Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont announced plans to force a Senate vote on legislation aimed at blocking the sale of bombs and bulldozers to Israel. The proposed measure targets nearly $500 million in military equipment.

Sanders made the announcement in a post on X on Monday. "This week, I will be forcing a vote on legislation to block the sale of nearly half a billion dollars worth of bombs and bulldozers to the Israeli military," — Sen. Bernie Sanders (Fox News) Sanders introduced joint resolutions last month to prohibit these sales. The equipment includes bombs and bulldozers intended for the Israeli military.

This initiative comes amid ongoing regional conflicts involving Israel. In the post, Sanders referred to actions by Israel's government in Gaza. He stated that the government has committed acts resulting in civilian deaths and displacement.

"U.S. taxpayers must not keep funding the Netanyahu government’s mass killing and displacement of civilians in Gaza, Iran and Lebanon," he added. The legislation seeks to address these issues through restrictions on arms sales.
