Saudi and UAE Media Officials Post Nearly Identical Messages on Ties After Months of Tensions
Saudi Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosary and UAE National Media Authority Chairman Abdulla bin Mohammed Alhamed released similar posts on X at 7 p.m. Riyadh time on July 21. The statements followed months of tensions between the two countries.

Saudi Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosary and UAE National Media Authority Chairman Abdulla bin Mohammed Alhamed posted similar messages on X on July 21 affirming close historical ties between their countries. Al-Dosary wrote that the relationship between the Kingdom and the Emirates is between two peoples united by a shared history and heritage, and wise leadership in both countries.
Alhamed stated that Emirati-Saudi relations are an extension of a shared history and deep-rooted fraternal ties between two brotherly peoples, united by a single destiny.
Both posts said media should reflect those positive aspects and avoid undermining them, Al-Monitor reported. The statements came after months of tensions. Disagreements between the two countries surfaced late last year over support for opposing sides in the Yemen war and included a Saudi airstrike on what Riyadh said was a shipment of UAE military equipment to a Yemeni faction backed by Abu Dhabi.
In March the UAE banned Saudi TV Al-Arabiya's X accounts. In May the UAE left OPEC. One hour before the media officials posted, Turki Alalshikh shared a photo taken days earlier showing Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin-Salman and UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan with arms over each other's shoulders.
