Scale AI Reports Nearly $1 Billion Revenue After Leadership Change

Scale AI reported revenue just shy of $1 billion for the year ending in 2025, up from $870 million the prior year. 5 billion in total revenue since its founding in May 2016.

Wang left Scale AI in June 2025 after Meta agreed to acquire 49 percent of the company for $14 billion. He joined Meta to lead a new superintelligence lab and took roughly ten Scale employees with him. Jason Droege, previously chief strategy officer at Scale, became the new CEO.

Droege had earlier worked at Uber and Axon. The company says sales have rebounded under his leadership and it expects to exceed $1 billion in revenue this year. Meta agreed to pay Scale at least $450 million annually for five years as part of the transaction.

That commitment represents more than half of Scale's annual AI spending or the lesser amount, whichever applies.

Droege redirected investment from data labeling toward helping large companies and government clients develop internal AI applications. U.S. military. Data labeling still accounts for the vast majority of revenue, but Droege expects the applications business to surpass it within 18 months.

Wang has said the perception that Scale is finished is incorrect. Scale was founded by Wang and Lucy Guo, who left the company earlier after disagreements over strategy. Wang met cofounder Guo while both worked at Quora.
