Scotland Beats Haiti 1-0 Then Loses 0-1 to Morocco at Boston World Cup Matches

Delta Air Lines gave gifts to Scotland fans departing Boston after the team's opening two matches at the 2026 World Cup. Scotland defeated Haiti 1-0 in its first group match at Gillette Stadium before losing 0-1 to Morocco in the second. Morocco scored after 71 seconds through Ismael Saibari, the fastest goal of the tournament so far.

Scotland recorded no shots on target in the loss. Saibari, 25, made his senior international debut for Morocco in 2023 and has earned 31 caps. He scored twice in a warm-up win over Madagascar and once in a 1-1 draw against Brazil earlier in the group stage.

Scotland supporters filled local bars and streets during their stay. One group emptied 20 of 24 beers on tap at a neighborhood bar. Another played bagpipes in kilts at 6:30 a.m. Scotland posted a thank-you message on X on June 20 after departing for Miami.

The post included photos of a traffic cone on a statue, bagpipe players following Dawn the Duck, and supporters on a boat. "You’ve made us feel more than welcome in the time we’ve spent with you; you’ve made us feel part of your incredible city," the post read. The Boston Globe published a full-page letter acknowledging the visitors.

It noted that the city has hosted championships and parades but had never hosted guests quite like the Tartan Army. "For a week, you turned train stations into singalongs, Fenway into a football ground, and an ordinary June into something we’ll be talking about for years," the letter stated.
