Scott Pelley was fired from CBS News after a heated confrontation with newly installed “60 Minutes” boss Nick Bilton. com reported. He also publicly charged CBS News management with attempting to inject “falsehoods and bias” into reporting and likened the recent staff purge to the murder of family members.

Days after the dismissal, Pelley was photographed exclusively by The New York Post on Monday strolling through downtown Old Greenwich, Connecticut. He wore a light blue button-down shirt, dark slacks and sunglasses while grabbing tea near his home and appeared relaxed and in good spirits.

” He also stated, “No one saw the Black Thursday massacre coming,” referring to the network’s sweeping purge of senior staff.

The longtime correspondent described unusually close bonds with colleagues, noting, “My colleagues and I have worked together 10, 20, 30 years. We travel together. We dine together. ” Pelley said he had no regrets about confronting CBS News leadership.

“I felt that somebody had to stand up not just for the broadcast but for the people,” he said. Among those dismissed were former executive producer Tanya Simon, correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, senior executive producer Draggan Mihailovich, veteran producer Guy Campanile and staffer Matthew Polevoy.

Remaining correspondents Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim announced they are staying with “60 Minutes” while sharply criticizing management’s handling of the firings.

Pelley spent nearly four decades at CBS News before his ouster.
