Scheffler posted a 10-under 60 on Friday at TPC River Highlands to reach 16 under after 36 holes. He leads Viktor Hovland by two strokes after missing a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole.
usmagazine.comScottie Scheffler shot a second-round 60 at the 2026 Travelers Championship on June 26 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The round left him at 16-under-par 124 after 36 holes, two shots ahead of Viktor Hovland. Scheffler missed a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole and settled for 60 instead of a sub-60 score.
He had previously shot 59 in the second round of the 2020 Northern Trust. Hovland shot 61, matching his career-best PGA Tour round, after needing birdies on the final two holes for 59. Akshay Bhatia shot 62 and shares third place at 12 under with Eric Cole, who shot 65 and made pars on his final eight holes.
Scheffler bogeyed the par-4 second hole after leaving a wedge short and missing an 8-foot par putt. He said the morning conditions allowed players to take advantage of softer greens. "Going out this morning, you definitely had a feeling the conditions were going to be easier, so you need to go out there and try and take advantage of it," Scheffler said.
Scheffler won the Travelers Championship in 2024 and finished tied for fourth in the 2026 U.S. Open. His most recent prior PGA Tour victory was The American Express. Jim Furyk remains the only player in PGA Tour history with a sub-60 round.
Furyk shot 59 in the 2013 BMW Championship and 58 in the final round of the 2016 Travelers Championship at the same course. "It was like, 'It would be cool to shoot 59, but somebody has already shot 58 here, so it's not even the course record,'" Scheffler said. Hovland noted the course was more gettable than the day before.
