A seaplane carrying eight people crashed into New York City’s East River on Sunday afternoon after a hard landing in choppy waters. The aircraft partially capsized just after 12 p.m. near the Manhattan ferry and Skyport terminal along 23rd Street and FDR Drive, New York Post reported.
The FDNY rescued all eight people from the plane. Two passengers with minor injuries were evaluated by emergency medical staff, officials said. No injuries were reported in the crash. After the passengers were removed, crews righted the plane on the water and towed it back to the docks.
At least five ships assisted in the response, and another seaplane was spotted nearby, New York Post reported. Police said an investigation into the crash remains ongoing. The incident occurred less than a month after another seaplane was rescued from the East River near the Throgs Neck Bridge after being struck by a wave during takeoff.
