A seaplane made a hard landing on New York's East River on July 5, 2026, after traveling from East Hampton. @ABC reported that the FDNY received a call just after noon about a plane in the water and that the aircraft came down off the marina at East 23rd Street and the FDR Drive in Manhattan. FDNY units rescued all eight passengers from the seaplane.
Two passengers sustained minor injuries and were evaluated by EMS, the FDNY said. The plane was being towed back to a dock. No other injuries were immediately reported. All passengers were rescued safely, according to the FDNY.
