The aircraft carried eight people and had taken off from East Hampton earlier that day. The FDNY received a call just after noon reporting a plane in the water.
The pilot transmitted a mayday call as an NYPD helicopter arrived overhead. Fire department units reached the site and removed all eight people from the seaplane. Two passengers sustained minor injuries and were evaluated by EMS personnel on scene.
Both declined further medical treatment. No other injuries were reported. The aircraft remained upright after the landing. Crews began towing the seaplane back to a dock shortly after the rescues.
