Searchlight Pictures Acquires U.S. Rights to Horror Film 'Monitor' for 2027 Release

S. S. rights to the horror movie 'Monitor' from filmmakers Matt Black and Ryan Polly. The film made its world premiere in the Midnighter section at SXSW last month. 'Monitor' stars Brittany O’Grady, Taz Skylar, Viveik Karla, Ines Høysæter Asserson, Gunner Willis, Sara Alexander, and Camila Bejarano Wahlgren.

'Monitor' was produced by Nostromo Pictures and Temple Hill. Temple Hill is the creator of the 'Smile' franchise. The film will be released in 2027. K. and Southeast Asia. Chan Phung and Ben Wilkinson negotiated the deal on behalf of Searchlight with Temple Hill Entertainment and UTA Independent Film Group.

Matt Black and Ryan Polly made an original 'Monitor' short film eight years ago. Producers of 'Monitor' are Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, John Fischer, and Adrian Guerra. Executive producers of 'Monitor' include Nuria Valls, Hal Sadoff, Ben Levine, Dave Bishop, and George Hamilton.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are co-founders of Temple Hill. The film centers on themes related to online moderation, as three films debuted this spring that center on online moderators. 'Grind' is a comedic anthology from Ed Dougherty and Brea Grant that includes a segment about a content moderator.

'Faces of Death' from Daniel Goldhaber stars Barbie Ferrera and features a narrative set in content moderation. Daniel Goldhaber once held a content moderation job for a summer.
