U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in India on Sunday for meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The discussions covered trade, energy, defense, and maritime security. Rubio stated that the two countries remain strategically aligned and expressed optimism about reaching a broader trade deal.
He also delivered an invitation from President Donald Trump for Modi to visit Washington later this year.

China has accused the grouping of attempting to limit its regional influence. Alongside the meetings, Rubio visited Kolkata and the Missionaries of Charity headquarters. His itinerary also includes stops in Agra and Jaipur.
