Hampshire poll conducted for the Pine Tree State shows Platner at 51% support among likely Maine voters compared with 42% for Republican Sen. Susan Collins. The same poll shows Platner with 76% support among Democratic primary voters. Collins, first elected in 1996, is the longest-serving Republican female senator and is running unopposed for the Republican nomination.
Former Maine Gov. Janet Mills suspended her Democratic primary campaign in late April and holds 10% support in the poll.
Democratic primary is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9. Republicans currently hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate. " Murphy has not yet formally endorsed Platner.
