Sen. Mitch McConnell Says June 14 Fall Caused Hospitalization

Sen. Mitch McConnell said Sunday that a fall on June 14 caused his hospitalization and left him briefly unconscious. The 84-year-old Kentucky Republican underwent multiple medical tests during his stay. Doctors ruled out broken bones, concussion, heart attack, stroke, tumors and hemorrhages.

McConnell developed mild pneumonia while hospitalized and received antibiotics for the infection. His attending physician confirmed he sustained only minor injuries. He is currently in a rehabilitation center. McConnell said he will not return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet but continues to work with his staff on Senate business.

His office released a photo of him smiling with his wife Elaine Chao from the rehabilitation facility.
