Sen. Ruben Gallego's leadership PAC and campaign committee paid more than $18,000 for childcare expenses between 2019 and 2025. One payment of $400 went to Gallego's mother-in-law. The leadership PAC also covered family trips that included visits to Saint Barthélemy, Miami, Chicago, Disneyland and Disney World.
Gallego stated that travel with family members and childcare expenses are permitted under FEC rules and are common among members of Congress and the White House. Gallego and Rep. Eric Swalwell established a joint fundraising committee that spent $34,700 on Super Bowl LVII tickets and approximately $2,715 at a Phoenix restaurant in February 2023.
The committee raised $56,505 and was closed after March 2023. Gallego and Swalwell each received approximately $7,643.89 when the committee was terminated. Fox News reported that Gallego established a legal defense fund in May 2026.
The same outlet reported that Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has called for a Senate investigation into Gallego regarding alleged sexual misconduct and campaign-finance issues. Gallego dismissed the allegations.
Legalinsurrection.com reported that Gallego formed JUNTOS PAC in February 2024 and that the PAC has received $1.5 million in contributions, more than half from corporate PACs.
