The CEO had written that federal subsidies accounted for less than 2 percent of the value of Tesla and SpaceX and that the incentives had helped competitors more than the two companies.
EV sales could reach 85,000 units in May, the highest monthly total since the federal EV tax credit ended in September 2025, according to Cox Automotive data. The average transaction price for electric vehicles fell 4 percent from a year earlier to $54,532 in May. Tesla shares closed at $406.10, down 0.08 percent, in after-hours trading on Friday.
