Serbian Drama Wins Europa Cinemas Label at Karlovy Vary

The Serbian drama 3 Weeks After won the Europa Cinemas Label as the best European film at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The three-member jury of European exhibitors announced the decision on Saturday afternoon. The film, directed by Miroslav Terzić, had its world premiere in the festival's main competition program.

It explores peer violence among adolescents through the perspectives of its young characters.

The jury called the decision unanimous and noted that the film held their attention from the opening shot through the final frame. They praised the ensemble cast for delivering authentic performances and highlighted the story's focus on group dynamics.

" the jury statement said. The cast includes Jovan Ginić, Klara Hrvanović, Andjela Alavirević, Tihana Lazović and Branislav Trifunović. Vladimir Arsenijević, Bojan Vuletić and Terzić wrote the screenplay. Damjan Radovanović served as cinematographer and Marko Ferković as editor.

The film is being sold internationally by Bendita Film Sales. Production companies include This and That Productions from Serbia, with co-producers Invictus from Bulgaria, Nightswim from Italy, Kinorama from Croatia and Paul Thiltges Distributions from Luxembourg.

The jury consisted of Sophie Jansen from Filmhuis Den Haag, Nataša Jurčová Findrová from Kino Lumière in Bratislava and Grégory Le Perff from DSN – Dieppe Scène Nationale.
