Westbound traffic follows a separate diversion: exit the A46 westbound at Saxondale roundabout, turn right onto the A46 northbound, take the first exit onto the A6097 at the next roundabout, continue to Lowdham roundabout, turn left onto the A612 towards Nottingham, take the first exit onto the A6011 at the A612/A6011 roundabout, then turn left onto Lady Bay Bridge to re-join the A52 westbound.
In Northamptonshire, a serious collision prompted the closure of the A45 eastbound between the A509 at Little Irchester and the A5001 at Rushden.
