ghacks.netSesame released a public preview of its conversational AI iOS app on Thursday. The startup, co-founded by Oculus founders and other former VR company employees, has spent more than a year developing the agents. The app includes four agents named Maya, Miles, Simone, and Charlie.
Each agent has its own voice, personality, point of view, and memory. Maya and Miles were previously available in a research preview that reached over one million users within weeks.
Sesame designed the agents to pause while thinking and to run parallel searches while speaking. The system can incorporate new information mid-response. The app also offers search cards, notes, a texting mode, deep-dive results, and an incognito mode that does not save conversations to memory.
The iOS app is available today in 39 countries. Users may encounter a short waitlist at sign-up. An Android preview is planned for a later date. The full experience is currently free.
Sesame stated that the app is the first step toward intelligent eyewear expected in 2027. The company indicated that future agents will be able to take actions on behalf of users in addition to conversation. Sesame raised a $250 million Series B round from Sequoia and other investors before opening an earlier beta version.
