Several musicians scheduled to perform at the Great American State Fair withdrew after questioning the event’s nonpartisan status. The fair is set to run from June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall in Washington as part of Freedom 250 programming marking the United States 250th anniversary of independence. President Trump will personally open the fair on Wednesday, June 24.

Freedom 250 announced the schedule change on Saturday. The organization was launched last year by Trump and is led by a former State Department appointee from his first term. Organizers describe the fair as nonpartisan, though Freedom 250 was established by the Trump administration to complement America 250, which was started by a bipartisan group of congressmen and private citizens.

Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday that several artists were getting “the yips” about performing. His post referred twice to holding a rally on “Wednesday” without naming a date. The White House did not immediately clarify the discrepancy between that reference and Freedom 250’s June 24 announcement.

Trump proposed an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally featuring himself to replace the Great American State Fair. ), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists,’ and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President,” he wrote.

“I don’t want so-called ‘Artists’ that get paid far too much money, who aren’t happy. I only want to be surrounded by Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN. ” Bret Michaels and the Commodores withdrew last week.

Several musicians cited concerns that they had been misled about the event’s theme or feared becoming involved in a political dispute. Martina McBride, who was scheduled to perform on the fair’s opening night, said she was misled about the event’s nature. “I saw it as just a bigger version of so many state fairs I have performed at over the years.

Sounds fun, right? Wholesome even. Yesterday things started changing and what we were told is, in fact, not what is happening,” she wrote. Young MC said: “Despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, Spin Magazine describes it as Trump-backed.

C. ” Vanilla Ice confirmed his participation as of Saturday. “We are all one. This is not a political platform. This is celebrating America’s birthday. Nothing too serious just enjoying some fun, dancing and great memories.

Hope you guys can join us,” he wrote on Instagram. Flo Rida and Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli are also still scheduled to perform. Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for Freedom 250, said the fair will feature exhibits, family-friendly attractions, musical performances, flyovers and more.
