Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani will miss the 2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia because of continued irritation in his left knee. The Dodgers announced the absence on Friday, July 10, 2026. Ohtani will not make his scheduled start on the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks that night but will remain in the lineup as the team's designated hitter for the three-game series.
After the series concludes on Sunday, July 12, Ohtani will undergo interventions on the knee to prepare for the second half of the season. The four-time Most Valuable Player turned 32 earlier in the week. 290 batting average, 20 home runs and 56 RBIs this season.
On the mound he is 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 85 2/3 innings. He hit his 300th career home run on Tuesday night, a leadoff shot against Colorado Rockies pitcher Michael Lorenzen, becoming the first Japanese-born player in MLB history to reach the mark. Ohtani also led the league in jersey sales in 2025.
