A team placed its starting shortstop on the 10-day injured list Monday after he suffered a hamstring strain during Sunday's game. The injury occurred when the player came up hobbling while rounding first base on a fifth-inning single. A manager said the injury is between a Grade 1 and 2 strain, meaning the player could miss two or more weeks.

Roster move brings up prospect In a corresponding move, the club recalled a top prospect from Triple-A Louisville. 562 for the season in Triple-A and had stolen nine of nine bases. The prospect will start at second base for his major-league debut, with another infielder shifting to shortstop.

The prospect was acquired in a 2022 trade deadline deal.

Injury details and prior performance The shortstop had been in the midst of a season with career-high underlying statistics, including a 15.0% barrel rate and 94.2 mph average exit velocity. His 29.6% strikeout rate had put him on pace for 212 strikeouts. The shortstop had scored 151 fantasy points, ranking 34th among hitters and 58th overall in one points format.
