Singapore Police Arrest 26-Year-Old in Connection with Leak of Unreleased Avatar: The Last Airbender Film

Singapore police arrested an unidentified 26-year-old man on charges of illegally accessing a media server without authorization, following the leak of the unreleased animated film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. Local authorities received a report on April 16, 2026, that portions of the film had been leaked onto social media platforms. The man was arrested within one day of that report.

Authorities seized various electronic devices and an unauthorized copy of the film from the man. The Singapore police investigation revealed that the man obtained remote access to a server and downloaded the film from there. He then posted clips of the film on social media.

The charge of unauthorized access to computer material carries a maximum prison term of seven years and a fine upwards of $50,000. The animated film leaked online in its entirety weeks before April 25, 2026. The film was initially set for a theatrical release in October 2025.

The film's release was delayed to January 9, 2026, and then further delayed to October 9, 2026. The studio decided to release the film on the Paramount Plus streaming service on October 9, 2026. On April 11, 2026, an X user from Singapore named @ImStillDissin posted that Nickelodeon accidentally emailed the entire Avatar Aang movie.

On April 12, 2026, @ImStillDissin threatened on X to livestream the movie alongside Peggle Deluxe gameplay if Paramount did not post a trailer soon. That same day, @ImStillDissin responded on X to a fan asking him not to leak the movie by saying he would not if Paramount promoted it. On April 13, 2026, @ImStillDissin posted on X that he would not get extradited over a cartoon movie.

Also on April 13, 2026, @ImStillDissin posted on X needing fit ideas for his public execution tomorrow. That same day, the full movie leaked online through another unrelated account based in Singapore, with clips spreading on sites like 4chan. The last tweet from @ImStillDissin was on April 14, 2026, stating that all the accounts he used to follow were talking about the leak and he might end up in Guantanamo.

On April 14, 2026, animator Julia Schoel posted on X that the team worked on the Aang movie for years expecting a theatrical celebration but saw it leaked and shots passed around on Twitter like candy. Schoel posted on X that she does not like people using Paramount's decision to remove the movie from theaters to justify leaking it.

She added that pirating the movie after release would have been better than the pre-release leak and that the leak is disrespectful to the artists' hard work.

The film is a continuation of Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender animated TV series. The film's voice cast includes Dave Bautista, Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Ken Jeong, Steven Yeun, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan.
