Six Asiatic black bears rescued from bile farms in South Korea have been released into a forest habitat at Knuthenborg Safaripark in Denmark, Euronews reported. The relocation followed more than two years of planning between NGOs, veterinarians and authorities in South Korea and Europe. The bears were sedated and placed in wooden crates in Cheongju before transport by truck and plane.
At the park the animals moved through holding enclosures before entering the woodland area. Staff observed one bear swimming and another feeding on leaves shortly after release.
