Six U.S. Cities Report Median Home Listing Prices Below $300,000 in April

U.S. housing markets had median listing prices below $300,000 in April. Each of those markets also posted growth in active listings compared with the same month in 2025. Pittsburgh recorded the lowest median listing price at $248,625, followed by Detroit at $248,900. Cleveland, Buffalo, St. Louis, and Birmingham completed the list.

Com senior economist Hannah Jones said the Midwest continues to attract buyers priced out of higher-cost coastal markets. Jones stated that buyers in these cities can still afford homes closer to their preferred size and features. The data were released as builders report mixed signals.

The National Association of Home Builders noted increased builder confidence this spring, while overall home construction has slowed amid higher material and labor costs.
