Slate Auto will announce pricing and begin non-refundable preorders for its electric vehicle on June 24. The company sent emails to prospective buyers on Thursday encouraging them to make a $50 reservation now to secure a delivery window before non-reservers.

The FAQ section of the preorder page that went live Thursday confirms the June 24 pricing announcement. Slate previously stated it would announce pricing in June. The company did not respond to a request for comment.

Slate came out of stealth in April 2025 after plans for a low-cost, customizable electric vehicle were reported. The base version was originally described as starting under $20,000 before a $7,500 federal tax credit. After the credit ended late last year, the company has said the vehicle will start in the mid-$20,000 range.

4 billion, including a $650 million Series C round closed in April. Much of the funding has come from TWG Global, the firm of co-owner Mark Walter. Jeff Bezos participated in the initial funding round.

Slate named former Amazon Marketplace vice president Peter Faricy as CEO in March. Many leadership positions are held by former Amazon executives. More than 160,000 potential customers have made refundable $50 reservations since the vehicle was revealed last year. In May, the manager of Bezos’s family office stepped down from Slate’s board of directors.
