The VergePreorders opened today with a $200 refundable deposit. The glasses will cost $2,195 and include two sizes, prescription inserts, and a charging case. The company describes Specs as a wearable computer built into see-through augmented-reality glasses. They are fully standalone with no external puck or tether. Two Snapdragon processors handle computer vision and AR Lenses.
Design and display Specs come in 47 mm and 52 mm sizes weighing 132 g and 136 g.
Both lenses can display content using proprietary liquid-crystal-on-silicon technology that provides a 51-degree field of view and 16 million colors. The lenses transition from clear to tinted in 10 seconds. Visible-light and infrared cameras are built in. A small LED bar lights when recording. Removable inserts support a wide range of prescriptions.
Battery and connectivity A single charge provides up to four hours of use for audio, video, AI assistance, and Bluetooth notifications. The included charging case supplies four additional charges for a total of 20 hours. A magnetic cable allows wired charging and content streaming from phones, computers, or gaming devices.
The company separated its smart-glasses team into its own business and set a 2026 consumer-launch target. Specs will compete with existing smart glasses that offer one display and with higher-end tethered headsets.
