Social Security Administration to Send August 2026 SSI Payments on July 31

The Social Security Administration will send August 2026 Supplemental Security Income payments on July 31. August 1 falls on a Saturday, so the agency moves the payments to the last business day of the prior month under its standard rule for weekends and federal holidays. The maximum payment is $994 for an individual.

A couple filing jointly can receive up to $1,491. An essential caregiver of an SSI recipient can receive as much as $498. The program supports people with limited income who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability.

The amount varies based on the number of people filing. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or hold an approved noncitizen classification from the Department of Homeland Security. They must live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands and must not be absent from the United States for a full calendar month or for 30 consecutive days.
