Social Security Checks for July 15 Reach Recipients Born Early in Month

The Social Security Administration will distribute the second round of retirement benefits on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Recipients born between the 2nd and 11th of any month receive payments on the second Wednesday each month under the agency's standard calendar. Payments occur three times monthly on Wednesdays.

Those born from the 11th to the 20th receive benefits on the third Wednesday, while those born after the 20th are paid on the fourth Wednesday. Individuals who began receiving benefits before May 1997 or who also claim Supplemental Security Income receive Social Security payments on the third day of the month, with SSI issued on the first.

Paper checks for the July 15 payment will be mailed by that date.

Benefit amounts depend on lifetime earnings, the age at which benefits begin, and the year of retirement. For workers who earned the taxable maximum each year from age 22 and claim in 2026, the monthly payment equals $4,152 at full retirement age of 66 or 67, $2,969 at age 62, and $5,181 at age 70. The agency states that benefits reflect each recipient's earnings record and claiming decision.

Early claiming permanently reduces the monthly amount by as much as 30 percent, while delayed claiming increases it up to the maximum level.
