Social Security benefits are typically issued on Wednesdays. Those born between the 11th and 20th receive payments on the third Wednesday of the month, while those born after the 20th are paid on the fourth Wednesday.

Individuals who began receiving benefits before May 1997 are scheduled to receive payments on the third day of each month unless that date falls on a weekend or holiday. People who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income get their Social Security payment on the third day of the month and their SSI payment on the first business day.

2026 SSI Payment Dates SSI payments are issued on the first business day of each month. The remaining 2026 dates are July 1, July 31, September 1, October 1, October 30, December 1, and December 31. The agency has stated that the retirement trust fund faces a projected shortfall beginning in 2032, which would result in a 28 percent reduction in monthly benefits if no changes are made.
