Social Security Payments Scheduled on Multiple Dates in July 2026

Millions of Americans will receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income payments over the course of July 2026. Newsweek reported that some retirees qualify for checks as high as $5,181 per month. The Social Security Administration outlined the July schedule in chronological order.

SSI recipients receive their monthly payment on Wednesday, July 1. Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, along with those who receive both Social Security and SSI, are paid on Thursday, July 2. Retirement, disability and survivor beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th receive payments on Wednesday, July 8.

An early SSI payment for August is issued on Friday, July 31 because August 1 falls on a weekend.

The SSA stated that this deposit represents August's benefit moved forward and does not constitute an extra payment. For 2026 the maximum retirement benefit stands at $4,152 per month at full retirement age. The highest possible monthly benefit of $5,181 requires earning at or above the taxable maximum for roughly 35 years and delaying claims until age 70.

Average monthly retirement benefits are expected to total around $2,071 in 2026 after a 2.8 percent cost-of-living adjustment. The maximum federal SSI payment reaches $994 per month for an eligible individual and $1,491 for an eligible couple. Some states provide additional State Supplementary Payments that vary by income, living arrangements and disability status.

The SSA administers retirement benefits available from age 62, Social Security Disability Insurance, survivor benefits for certain spouses and children, and SSI for low-income individuals who meet income and resource rules.
