Somaliland Ministry Opens 2027 Budget Consultations with Parliament Committee

Somaliland's Ministry of Finance and Economic Development began formal consultations with the House of Representatives' Committee on Economy, Finance and Trade on July 19 regarding the 2027 national budget, AllAfrica reported. Finance Minister Abdillahi Hassan Aden led the ministry delegation, which included the Director General and senior officials for budget, economic affairs, and legal affairs.

The ministry presented an overview of the macroeconomic framework, stages of budget preparation, revenue and expenditure policies, and strategic spending priorities.

The 2027 budget will prioritize economic growth, strengthening national security and defence, improving public administration and governance, and expanding essential public services, the ministry stated. Officials said preparation follows Public Financial Management Law and remains on schedule under principles of transparency, accountability, and consultation with relevant institutions.

The chairperson of the House Committee on Economy, Finance and Trade welcomed the ministry's adherence to the legal timetable and praised cooperation between the executive and legislature.

Committee members raised questions and recommendations on the proposed framework, which ministry officials addressed during the meeting. Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and regular consultations until the budget is finalized and submitted to parliament.
