Son Heung-min Scores First MLS Goal of Season in LAFC Win
Son Heung-min scored his first Major League Soccer goal of the season in the 58th minute to help Los Angeles Football Club defeat LA Galaxy 3-0. The South Korean forward also recorded his ninth assist of the campaign, keeping him tied for the league lead.

Son Heung-min scored his first Major League Soccer goal of the season on Friday to help Los Angeles Football Club defeat LA Galaxy 3-0 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The goal came in the 58th minute from the top of the penalty area and extended LAFC's lead to three goals.
It was Son's first MLS goal in 14 matches this season. Mark Delgado opened the scoring for LAFC in the 26th minute. Denis Bouanga doubled the lead from a penalty kick in the 45th minute after being fouled in the area.
Son returned to LAFC after South Korea's group-stage elimination from the FIFA World Cup at the end of June. He did not score during the tournament, in which South Korea recorded one win and two losses in Group A. Son said the break after the World Cup provided a mental reset.
"I got to spend some quality time with quality people back home, and I was able to recover mentally," he said. Son remains tied for the MLS lead with nine assists. His two previous goals this year came in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
LAFC improved to 27 points from eight wins, three draws and five losses, placing the team third in the Western Conference. Bouanga converted the penalty for his sixth MLS goal of the season.
