Sony to Close PS3 and Vita PlayStation Stores in Select Regions from August 2026, Global Shutdown Set for July 2027
Sony will shut the PlayStation Store on PS3 consoles in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua in August 2026, with more Latin American and Middle Eastern markets following later that year. Global closures for both PS3 and PS Vita stores take effect in July 2027, ending new purchases while preserving downloads of prior content.

Global shutdowns of the stores on both PS3 and PS Vita consoles will occur in July 2027. After that date users will no longer be able to buy new content, though previously purchased games remain downloadable for the foreseeable future. Sony stated that the decision may disappoint players who value the older hardware.
The company added that it must direct resources toward newer devices where most users now play. Sony also plans to stop production of physical PlayStation discs for any games released after January 2028.
