Sony Introduces Bravia Theater Trio Home Cinema Speaker System
Sony announced a three-speaker home audio package that uses virtual surround mapping to expand sound from large televisions. The system is available immediately at a starting price of $2,199.99.
forbes.comSony has released the Bravia Theater Trio, a three-speaker audio package intended to provide surround sound for large-screen televisions. The system includes left, center, and right speakers that work with the company's 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology.
The mapping process uses a supplied USB Type-C microphone to measure room layout and seating position. It then creates up to 24 virtual speakers, including height, rear, and side channels, while supporting Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced content.
Each physical speaker contains newly enlarged up-firing drivers and X-Balanced woofers and tweeters. The center unit uses two woofers and one tweeter to maintain dialogue clarity across wide sound stages. Users can add optional wireless components, including Sub 9 and Sub 8 subwoofers or Theater Rear 9 speakers.
The company states that the core three-speaker configuration alone produces a sound stage comparable in scale to earlier four-speaker Sony systems.
The Bravia Theater Trio is on sale now for $2,199.99 in the United States and £1,999 or €1,999 in other markets.
