Sony to Remove 551 StudioCanal Titles From UK PlayStation Libraries September 1, May Restore Access Later
Sony notified United Kingdom PlayStation customers that access to 551 purchased StudioCanal movies and shows will end on September 1 due to licensing agreements. The move follows earlier removals of digital content by the company.

Sony informed United Kingdom PlayStation customers that they will lose access to 551 StudioCanal titles starting September 1. The titles include Outrage: Way of the Yakuza, Paddington, Paddington 2, Pan’s Labyrinth, Rambo 3, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Wired reported that Sony attributed the removals to content licensing agreements.
The legal notice was first spotted by PlayStation LifeStyle. Affected titles will be removed from customer libraries. Sony previously announced the removal of 1,318 seasons of Discovery shows in 2023 but reversed that decision after updating licensing arrangements.
In 2022 the company removed 314 StudioCanal titles from libraries in Germany and Austria. Sony also deleted customers’ Funimation digital libraries after merging the service with Crunchyroll and stopped selling movie and show rentals and purchases on its digital store in August 2021.
Wired reported that it remains possible Sony could reach a new agreement with StudioCanal before or after September 1 that would restore access.
