Sony and Insomniac Games first announced the project in 2021, showed initial gameplay in a September 2025 State of Play, and revealed the official release date in February 2026.
Insomniac Games previously developed the Spider-Man game that launched on PS4 in 2018, followed by the spinoff Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the sequel Spider-Man 2.
