Sony State of Play Announces God of War: Laufey, Wolverine Release Date and Updates for Over a Dozen Titles
The June 2, 2026 State of Play lasted more than 60 minutes and included gameplay from Marvel’s Wolverine plus new titles from Sony and third-party studios. Several games received September and October 2026 release dates.
The VergeSony’s State of Play broadcast on June 2, 2026 opened with seven minutes of gameplay from Marvel’s Wolverine and closed with the reveal of God of War Laufey. The presentation ran more than 60 minutes and carried updates and release dates for more than a dozen titles scheduled for PlayStation 5. Marvel’s Wolverine is set for September 15, 2026.
The segment showed Logan in the yellow costume moving through combat encounters that featured visible blood effects. The game was first announced in 2021. God of War Laufey, developed by Sony’s Santa Monica studio, places players in control of Faye.
The footage included aerial movement, magic-based attacks, a six-legged flying cat, and a gelatinous cube companion named Phranque. No release date was given. Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant launches September 24, 2026.
Dylan Faden is the sole playable character, while his sister Jesse shapes events in the story, according to creative director Mikael Kasurinen. Silent Hill: Townfall is also scheduled for September 24, 2026. Onimusha: Way of the Sword follows one day later on September 25, with a playable demo released the same day as the State of Play.
Dune Awakening arrives on PlayStation 5 on September 22, 2026 and includes a new single-player mode created for console. Ace Combat 8 launches October 2, 2026. Additional titles set for 2027 include Until Dawn’s sequel, The Lost Wild: True Fear Is Primal, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on February 12, and Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen.
Rayman Legends Retold is due August 27, 2026. Bancho the Chef, a prequel to Dave the Diver, remains in development without a date. Bungie made Marathon season 2, titled Nightfall, available to play for free from June 2 through June 9, 2026.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls received updated footage during the stream. The broadcast could be viewed on YouTube and Twitch channels operated by PlayStation.
