citizen.co.zaSouth Africa is preparing to host the 13th biennial Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition and airshow at Air Force Base Waterkloof from 16 to 20 September 2026. Exhibition Director Nakedi Phasha confirmed the country’s readiness during a media briefing in Pretoria on Monday, 100 days before the event opens.
Phasha said the organisers expect no fewer than 300 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and have invited more than 200 official delegations, with a target of 100 confirmed delegations from 100 countries.
She added that no fewer than 60,000 people are expected to pass through the base during the five-day period. The exhibition will run as a five-day trade event, with the first three days reserved for industry participants and parallel conference sessions.
During those days, organisers plan to demonstrate unmanned aerial technology and showcase space technology in a dedicated space hub, while the show itself will feature air, land and sea capabilities.
The final two days will open the base to the public, with more than 60,000 visitors anticipated. International aircraft exhibitors have been invited, and confirmations continue to arrive. Phasha stated that the defence industry is ready for partnerships and invited global participants to join the event at Air Force Base Waterkloof between 16 and 20 September 2026.
The biennial exhibition has previously brought together industry experts, policymakers, manufacturers and innovators to examine developments in aerospace and defence.
