The South Korean government launched a public-private task force on July 16 to promote local companies' participation in next-generation aircraft development projects. An inaugural meeting took place in Seoul. Officials from the government, related companies and aerospace experts attended, the Korea AeroSpace Administration said.
The task force will explore governmentwide support measures to improve the technical competitiveness of local companies and secure investments. It will also act as a negotiating body representing local companies in related fields. Global manufacturers including Boeing Co.
And Airbus SE are expected to start programs for next-generation commercial aircraft in the coming years. KASA said the projects could begin on a full scale around 2030. KASA vowed to help companies become a driving force in the manufacturing supply chain for those projects.
