Yonhap reported the number of unemployed college graduates in South Korea at 481,000 for the April-June period. The figure rose 39,000 from a year earlier and stood as the highest second-quarter level since 521,000 in 2021. People in their 20s and 30s comprised 64.2 percent of all unemployed individuals holding a college degree or higher, for a combined count of 309,000.
An official at the Ministry of Data and Statistics said the increase showed the labor market had been affected by the Middle East crisis during the quarter. The total number of unemployed people nationwide reached 855,000, an increase of 11,000 from a year earlier.
