South Korean defense company LIG Defense & Aerospace signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus Helicopters to jointly develop next-generation unmanned aircraft systems. The signing took place at the Farnborough International Airshow in Britain on July 21. The companies said they will integrate advanced sensors and weapon systems into Airbus unmanned platforms.
The partners plan to create multi-role aerial solutions focused on intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and anti-submarine warfare. They will also apply artificial intelligence to improve mission endurance and operational efficiency for both aircraft and ground control stations.
LIG Defense & Aerospace stated the collaboration aims to combine its sensor and weapon technologies with Airbus' unmanned aircraft platforms.
