A South Korean leader left Geneva on Wednesday after attending the Group of Seven summit in France. The trip began last Tuesday and included stops in Belgium and Italy before concluding in France. Officials said the visits sought to expand diplomatic engagement with European nations and the European Union.
Brussels, the leader held talks with Belgium's prime minister and with the president of the European Commission along with the president of the European Council. In Italy, the leader reached an agreement to upgrade bilateral relations to a special strategic partnership and met with Pope Leo XIV.
On the France leg of the trip, the leader participated in the G7 summit held in Evian-les-Bains as an invited guest for the second straight year. The overall visit focused on building partnerships outside Asia to address shared global issues.
